If your floor is looking dingy use a mop and some elbow grease to clean it. Try cleaning the floor with a vinegar water mix or one of the other cleaners as described in our guide how to clean laminate flooring. Clean the floor routinely to remove dirt and dust by sweeping vacuuming or damp wiping. You can use a window cleaner occasionally for spills but don t over use ammonia which can strip protective sealant.

Laminate floor containing laminate planks are not suitable for steam clean because moisture can quickly go through this floor and damage it easily. But the water resistant laminate floor contains waterproof material in the core layer. Never allow liquids to stand on your floor. Laminate isn t as strong as other flooring options and it s easily damaged by devices like steam cleaners buffers and polishers.

Use a steam mop occasionally for a very deep clean. Steam cleaners are exceptional at getting dirt and grime off laminate floors. Steam mops create too much moisture for laminate floors which are often manufactured with a compressed fiber particleboard layers. For deeper cleaning you can use a steam mop very sparingly on laminate floors.

It may take several passes to get the floor clean but the mop is safer for your floors. Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen. For tough spots such as oil paint markers lipstick ink or tar use acetone nail polish remover on a clean white cloth. Always remove grit sharp objects staining agents moisture or aggressive substances from the floor.

The steam can cause swelling and warping of the product. Start in the furthest corner and work in sections until the entire floor is clean. Do not use steam cleaners or wet mops which may cause irreparable damage to your floor. Be sure to dry the floor immediately after steam cleaning with a clean dry microfiber cloth or mop.

For this type of floor you can steam clean it occasionally. For a deeper cleaning use a damp cotton cloth or cloth mop. Not daily though because the repeated use of steam can cause the laminate to buckle. Also check the pad on your steam cleaner.

However the intense heat and moisture it uses to get the job done can also wreak havoc on the adhesive used on your laminate floors. Unfortunately the short answer is no.
